Do You Believe This? Religious People Branded As Less Intelligent Than Atheists in Study

Are religious people less intelligent than atheists?

That’s the provocative conclusion of a new review of 63 studies of intelligence and religion that span the past century. The meta-analysis showed that in 53 of the studies, conducted between 1928 to 2012, there was an inverse relation between religiosity — having religious beliefs, or performing religious rituals — and intelligence. That is, on average, non-believers scored higher than religious people on intelligence tests.

REVEALED: Over 100 million Facebook Users(10%) Are Not Human: Facebook User Numbers Are Off

Facebook loves to talk about its ridiculously high number of users. Yes, Facebook has a whole lot of accounts, but many of them aren’t humans.

eMarketer released an analysis of Facebook’s audience, and it turns out more than 10 percent of Facebook’s reported monthly users are not human. Over 100 million active Facebook users are pets, objects or brands.

At the end of March, Facebook announced that it has 1.11 billion monthly active users. eMarketer found that only 889.3 million of those users were humans.
Facebook is aware of the issue and knows that some of their user estimates may be inaccurate.

In a report filed to the Securities and Exchange Commission in June 2012, shortly after the company’s initial public offering, Facebook wrote: “We estimate that ‘duplicate’ accounts (an account that a user maintains in addition to his or her principal account) may have represented approximately 4.8% of our worldwide MAUs as of June 30, 2012.” eMarketer may be counting those numbers differently, or the number of fake accounts may have gone up in the past year.

In 2012, Facebook estimated that 1.5 percent of Facebook accounts are “undesirable” or spam accounts. A lot are just accounts for users’ pets. People have been making Facebook pages for animals for years.

CNN wrote about the trend back in 2010, estimating that there were “at least a few thousand profile pages for dogs and cats along with less common pets such as birds, hamsters, ferrets, turtles, fish and rabbits.”

53% of Bieber’s Twitter Followers Are Fake

Justin Bieber is the most-followed person on Twitter, but don’t be too impressed: Just 47% of his followers are real people, the BBC reports. Socialbakers, a service that identifies fake Twitter accounts, finds that 17.8 million of Bieber’s 37.3 million followers are legit.

The company spots real users by looking for genuine tweets vs. spam or repetitive buzzwords like “make money” and “work from home.” If its report is correct, Lady Gaga has more followers than Bieber: 19 million of hers are real.

Nobel Award Nomination for Teen Girl- Malala Shot By Taliban

Teenage Pakistani schoolgirl, Malala who was shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating girls’ education is a wild card entry for this year’s Nobel Peace prize, with the leaders of Colombia and Myanmar among likely candidates for the award.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was certain to be on the list for his efforts to end half a century of conflict with the FARC guerrillas, alongside Myanmar’s Thein Sein, who has led a transition from decades of dictatorship, people familiar with the committee’s deliberations said.

Former President Bill Clinton was once again a possible candidate for his charitable work. However, Russian punk rock band Pussy Riot, which gained international notoriety when three of its members were jailed for performing a “punk prayer” against President Vladimir Putin in a Moscow cathedral, were not seen as likely winners. The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which announces its decision on October 12, received a record number of nominations for this year’s award. “The prize keeps gaining importance and attention,” said its Director Geir Lundestad. Detroit named most miserable city in US

With its violent crimes, high unemployment, dwindling population and financial crisis, Detroit was named on Thursday as the most miserable city in the United States.

It toppled Miami, which held the title last year, and surpassed Flint, Michigan, Rockford and Chicago in Illinois and Modesto, California, which rounded out the five most unhappy urban areas.
“Detroit’s problems are hardly news. It has been in a four-decade decline paralleling the slide in the U.S. auto industry,” according to, which compiles the yearly ranking.

Earlier this week, a panel of experts said the automotive city was facing a fiscal emergency and potential bankruptcy, as well as a possible financial takeover by the state.

Flint, which is being run by an emergency manager appointed by the state governor more than a year ago, faces similar problems and has some of the worst crime rates in the country and a jobless rate of 11.3 percent, according to
